WORTHINGTON YOUTH LACROSSE ASSOCIATION
SERVICES
WYLA was founded in 2024 with support from members of the Worthington Lacrosse community who have been working to build the sport for years, but found that they needed the strength of an organization to be able to bring positive changes to the game. Some of the goals below are near-term, and others will take years to realize, but here are some of the things WYLA is working towards...

Specialty Clinics
Certain specialized positions like goalie, faceoff, LSM, and draw require a level of instruction that many volunteer coaches can't provide. We're going to build clinics to teach these skills.

Referee Training
A long-term goal is to develop an in-house referee training program to ensure that even young refs are confient with a whistle. This will also enhance the safety and overall experience of games.

Rec Tournaments
No season feels complete without a capstone event, and an end of year tournament for rec league teams is a fun way to provide that while celebrating the sport and the players.

Coaches Clinics
It's awesome that so many mom's and dad's who have never played lacrosse are willing to step-up as volunteer coaches. We owe it to them and thier players to train and prepare them for the role!

Breaking Barriers
Cost is a barrier to entry for many kids who might otherwise love and excell at lacrosse. We can support them with equipment, playerships, and other resources that will keep the game in reach for everyone.

Branding & Identity
In the past, Worthington lacrosse hasn't had much of an identity and that has made it hard for kids to connect with it. We're going to give them all everything they need to identify as a "lacrosse player."
